FAQs

Q. How long do patients stay in the hospital?
A. The length of a patient's stay varies depending on the procedure. Please consult your physician if you have questions regarding your length of stay at Woman's, and he or she can go over any concerns you may have.

Q. Can a patient leave whenever she wants to be discharged?
A. Your physician will notify you regarding when you are eligible for discharge from the hospital with specific instructions concerning medications, diet and follow-up visits. You will automatically receive Express Discharge if all financial requirements have been met.

If you just delivered, be sure to arrange for transportation home for you and your newborn. State law requires that parents transport infants in the back seat according to the car seat manufacturer's specifications. We recommend you practice using the car seat prior to leaving the hospital.

Q. What if I have questions after I have been discharged?
A. Our case managers are available to assist you with all your discharge questions including home health and medical equipment. When you are ready to leave the hospital, a member of our team will escort you by wheelchair to the hospital entrance where you may be picked up.

Q. Where can I get a copy of my medical records?
A. To obtain medical records, send a written request to the Release of Information Office located on the first floor in the Medical Records Department. Copies of your health records will be provided upon written request and for a reasonable fee. Our integrated computer systems share your medical records with each of your caregivers and physicians who practice at HCA facilities in the Houston-metropolitan area. For more information, please call the Release of Information Office at 713-791-7157.

Q. What are the hospital's visiting hours?
A. General: Visiting hours extend from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

NICU: The NICU is always open to parents with the exception of shift change which take place at the following times and last for 45 minutes: 6:30 am, 2:45 pm, 6:30 pm, and 10:45 pm.

Q. Are there volunteer opportunities available at the hospital?
A. Absolutely! We offer a variety of volunteer options. It's easy to get involved, contact our Volunteer Manager, Karen Hinson at (713) 791-7252 or click here to learn more about our programs.

Q. Are there support groups/classes?
